Salute Our Soldiers
Christmas is all about Jesus. The incarnation of Christ is still an amazing mystery. The incarnate life is a the only one to live. One of the most unique things about the birth of Christ is that He was born in a manger. What an unlikely place for God to enter our community.
I once spent a Christmas in Saudi Arabia/Iraq. Spending Christmas away from family is tough. Somewhere out there are soldiers on patrol today. They will eat MRE’s, not turkey. There’s a sailor who will freeze on guard today. He will heat up a cup of coffee using a sterno, not Starbucks. A marine will dig a foxhole today. He will spend Christmas with a couple of buddies in a foxhole bunker in Afghanistan. Christmas in remote areas of the world is tough.
There will be thousands of families who will still be sad this Christmas. They will be sad because their loved ones died in action. Their deaths are a sad reality of war. War is NEVER easy. War is not always an answer. Yet war is sometimes a required fact. Since 9/11 we have had to change our mindset. We cannot go back to a pre-9/11 mindset. Muslims evangelize by force, military force. They will not stop unless made to stop.
God bless our military personnel who are serving the cause today.
Some say the war on terror is not worth it. They use the deaths as a wedge to make their point. And don’t hear me wrong: the deaths in Iraq are horrible and cannot be replaced with any words. 3897 soldiers have died in Iraq in the past few years. Did you know that approximately 5500 teenagers die yearly in car accidents related to drinking and driving. Where’s the outcry for this?
Death is always messed up. Although deaths are down, 16 died in Iraq in December. However, to use deaths as a political wedge to make a political point is not right.
Our military deserve our prayers and support during this Christmas season.
Thank God for your freedom!

Thank you for the reminder regarding the commitment and sacrifice of our American servicemen both at home and abroad. I pray and think of one particular soldier; my son, Adrian. Like so many separated from family, Adrian understands the meaning of duty, honor, and country. May God grant all of our military personnel peace and safety this most blessed Christmas season.
I guess it’s always taken more courage than most have to take a stand for Christ. Even Peter failed that test. That’s too bad. Today more than ever we need people to support who they truly believe would be the best president, not just who they feel is more electable. Isn’t that the same as being luke warm? Come on folks, have some courage! I’ve listened intently to everything Huckabee’s had to say, what he believes, what he supports. So far, I’m impressed. He seems to be a man that not only loves the Lord, but is willing to take a stand against terrorism, and strengthen our borders. He is against socialized medicine, thank God, and, best of all, I would feel very secure with having a president that is a man of prayer. He’s got my support hands down!
