Evangelism

Here’s an easy way to lead someone to Christ. It provides a proven visual while leaving room for your own creativity.

The Truth of the Matter

Use the TAG method throughout the rest of your life.

T is for Talk to People. Don’t make evangelism harder than Jesus Himself did. Let it be easy and natural. Just talk to people.

A is for Assess Their Spiritual Condition.

G is for Share the Gospel.

Tell a person: “There’s no matter more important in life than a person’s relationship with God in this life and the next.” Say to the person, “let me show you something, ok?”

Get a napkin or a small piece of paper and draw a bridge.

Use the following words to share the gospel and how a person comes to know Christ via the cross.

Use the word CREATED, Gen. 1:27. Explain that God created everyone unique and with precision. That precision means God has a unique purpose for every person’s life.

Then us the word SEPERATED, Rom. 3:23. Explain the sin nature of every man. Explain it’s something we cannot beat on our own. There’s a penalty, Rom. 6:23.

Then at the bottom of the span between your bridge ends, use the word REPENT, Acts 2:38. Explain the need to change direction and ask the person if that’s what he or she wants to do.

Then use the word, BELIEVE, John 1:12, 3:16. Explain how Jesus paid the penalty for our sin nature. Ask the person if her or she believes Jesus died for them. Speak of heaven and hell. End with relationship with God now. Draw a cross as a bridge from us to God on your napkin.

Then use the word FOLLOW, Matt. 4:19 and John 21:19. Explain how a relationship with God has a beginning point. Ask the person if he or she would like to receive Christ as Savior and Lord. Let the person pray. Help only if you have to. It’s not the words. It’s the heart.

Then give follow up and connection guidance. Remember, new believers need friends before they need theology. They need both, but relationships are required for discipleship to take place.
