I’m off to the SBC to nominate Dr. Les Puryear for President of the SBC. My Pastor was going to do it, but is not able to go and is sending me to make his nomination. I’ll see you all soon.
Barack Obama Makes Racial History
Regardless of what you may think of Barack Obama, he’s made history by becoming the first Black man to be nominated for President of the United States. I want to bask in the excitement of what it means to us racially before I dwell on what he stands for.
Barack Obama’s Nomination….
…means race relations just took a huge step forward
…means race baiting will get increasingly more difficult for Whites and Blacks
…means many other doors will open up for other Blacks who want to be President
…means Martin Luther King’s dream has been actualized in a way it has not been before
…means many Blacks in the Democratic Party should wake up to the fact that they were used by the party for a long time just for their votes
…means Jeremiah Wright and his side kick Michael Pflueger were wrong in their racial approaches
Let’s be excited about what’s happening racially here.
Scott McClellan and the Christian Worldview
I have listened for a few days to Scott McClellen give his now famous “dis” of President Bush and his administration. I have been please with the response from the White House and from the previous cabinet members. I life the way they have admitted the intelligence was wrong, while at the same time reminding Americans of the threat that was before us then and now. I have been amazed at how American’s have decided the freedom of other people is not worth fighting for. People enslaved deserve to be free. Yes, it’s more complicated than that, but that’s a basic idea in all of this.
The purpose driven media (NBC, CBS, and CNN) have for 6 years pummeled President Bush. And don’t get me wrong, there have been blunders with this Administration. But they are nowhere to the level the media wants to portray. For all my life I have listened to the traditional media tell me what to believe about the world. The problem is that media is not scripture driven. It doesn’t look through the lens of scripture or Christian world view. It sees with the lens of politics and secular culture.
Scott McClellan will soon be forgotten. Evey administration has a few who turn Judas on it. Sometimes they are right, but it still looks sorry. For McClellan, he’s wrong about the motives of the administration, but will still look like a loser to anyone who thinks for himself/herself.
For “we” Christians, we should remember that our world is rapidly changing. Any talk to peace will be superficial. Jesus only promised lasting peace for the world when He reigns over it in the end. Any peace now is pre-end times peace. Actually, Jesus stated there would be “wars and rumors of wars.” (Matt. 24) I’m not a war monger. War can’t fix it all. And I’m glad I’m not a decision maker. But to side with the enemies of Israel is dangerous. To return to a pre-911 mindset is possible, but it won’t last. Christians need to stay close to God and clean before the world.
Life Lesson from Scott McClellan: It’s ok to burn your bridges and exploit the middle ground for money.
